'Hello Comandante' Series
This serie come after 'Mocla'aproximaly 2004.The original idea of this serie came from a very classic photo of The Comandante Fidel Castro,at the Sierra Maestra... then wanted to dedicate this serie to that Important Personality of our contemporary history, as part of a generation influenced for his figure...the political commentary is present in the great majority of these paintings,in some more subtly demonstrated in others with a more direct tone,that can't escape from the obvious.Perhaps it's about provoking a discourse,about bringing some meaning out of hidden imprisonments without holding into defeated and deteriorated projects.I emphasize on the figure of Fidel Castro as an 'untouchable icon' because of the consequences that this implies.I invoke a reflection on his worshipped figure,in order to bring him down to earth.I don't do it with revengeful intention,I only try to find a way to come closer his irrefutable conduct,with a reasonable attitude of my own.I was born in a context,in which only one voice is heard. My life,as that of my contemporaries,has developed under his guidance,and dominance,as in the age of the Caesars,when people lived and died under one reign.
